I find garments with Orlon marked on them tend to be from the 60's when it was a new brand. I'm not sure all the pieces on yours are original to the cardigan though.
I've found Orlon in the late '50s so I could date your cardigan to then - I've got a similar cream one somewhere, and the diamantes look original too.

Thank you for that excerpt, it helped a lot! Also I would like to know what type of fur is this? It has a really soft short undercoat, and long silky coarser hairs above.
You are most welcome. It's dyed fox fur. The guardhairs that cover the underfur would have been softer in texture when new but since then the fur has been exposed to certain conditions that caused the guardhairs to become a bit more dry. Some of the ends, and maybe some of the underfur may have also clumped together a bit.
