Hi,
Could anyone please help me with dating this skirt? It has a few labels, so I will let the photos speak for themselves....

Thanks again!

The brand label looks 60's and the style quite mod but the fabric care details would push it into the early 70's perhaps.

I have never seen gabardine spelled this way "gaberdime"

I've also never seen gabardine spelled as "gaberdine" before on a label or in any reference book. But I have seen online sellers spell it that way, and have honestly assumed they're just spelling phonetically instead of the "correct" way! But, this gives credence to the possibility that somewhere, "gaberdine" is an accepted spelling. And the preciseness of the fabric content, as Mary Jane mentions, is so unusual. It would be very interesting to find out where this was made!

Johanna, where are you based?

The labels could be Australian, we were using those sizes and cm in the '70s although we're quite capable of spelling ''gabardine". I wonder if it was a typo? I've seen a few labels with mispelt fabric contents, they're quite a novelty.

I like the grumpy little cat face.

Spot on - I am currently in Australia and that is where I bought this skirt.
Mary Jane and Anne - I didn't notice the misspelling actually! I did think that the fractional material content was unnusual though. I wonder what the top half of the suit would have looked like. Any ideas?

Thanks

Johanna

Actually, I really can see it with a matching jacket...they were the cropped style rather like a jean jacket and usually had patch pockets at the breast area, maybe an interesting collar as in dog earred or perhaps somewhat pointed or just like a normal jean jacket styled collar. Buttoned at the wrists. I can remember seeing many casual suits in that styling from that time frame. It would have had the same buttons and the white ornamental stitching on it too.
