Help with date/origin of a metal \"pillow\" purse

Hello! I'm hoping that someone can shed some light on this metal "pillow" style purse. It had a lovely little filigree clasp and a purple silk velvet interior. It's also quite tiny, only 5 x 4 inches. Any help on the date/country of origin would be great, for some reason this feels Indian or Middle Eastern to me. Thanks so much!

It is from India and these were popular in the 1980s to 90s. It is brass.
