Help with dating 2 shoes

I found these two pairs of shoes at an estate sale today. I just fell for the Blue Suede ones.

The first is blue suede with leather floral cutouts, and the suede is in great condition, as well as all the flowers. The name on the insole is Jack Schaefer.

The second are red and I am lost as to date. I am certain they are something quite simple in dating for someone other than me.

Any help would be appreciated.

I know what you mean. I come across so many good finds but half the time I hate to show my ignorance. :) I read these forums almost daily to get a better idea...but sometimes...

Ok I will take a stab. The first pair look 50s and the red ones, Im not sure at all, maybe 60s or later? Hows that for wishy washy?

Love the blue suede! Size?

I may be way off base, but the heel on the blue suede shoes - dynamite shoes, by the way - looks more current to me, but the style otherwise looks like some of the 30s in my books. And I'd say 70s on the red ones.

The blue ones with the flowers are GREAT! I think they are early 50s but they might just date into the late 40s. They aren't after 1954 and they aren't before 1948. The red ones... because of the stiletto heel I think are early 80s, the heel is too thin for the 70s.

Thank you very much, everyone! :bouncy:

Can anyone direct me to a place or book where I can increase my knowledge of shoes. I seem to come across quite a few vintage shoes, and my interest in them are high. I have been a tad squeamish about putting them on eBay because of my lack of knowledge, but I have quite a few and would love to share them. :)

...and let me just add that my copy came TODAY in the mail, and it is propped up on the desk taaauuunting me (well I was doing my taxes, but somehow that has shifted to FASHION SURFING!!) (How does that happen?)

yep l believe the red ones to be early 80's and the floral stunners early 50's..they are fab!!

My first guess was 50's on the first and early 80's on the red ones.

Jonathan is best at dating them at early, mid, or late in a decade.

Or the exact year, of course. :kiss2:

Jonathan...I finally figured out how to respond to each persons comment. Anyhoo, thank you so much for all your help with dating my shoes. I just ordered your book through Amazon. Maybe I can get a signature from you in the future. :)
