Help with dating 30's 40's 50's (?) dress

Hi y'all.... hoping someone can help me with dating this dress.

Some details-
Silky, slightly sheer poly fabric.
Cinched at sleeves & tops of shoulders.
Metal talon zip at side.
Twisted top.
Pouch like waist (?).
Homemade.

Ideas anyone?

It borders on the psychedelic, but I have seen all those colours used in postwar 40s prints - it looks to be nylon jersey, which would firmly put it no earlier than 1946.

This is an interesting dress. I recommend a burn test to determine fabric composition. If it's a polyester, it could be '60s or more recent. If it's a nylon, as Jonathan says it will be post '46 (but probably not far, I'm thinking late '40s).

I think it could be a rayon jersey, which puts it earlier in the '40s, more inline with Carla's lovely frock.

Wow....so surprising to me I've never seen anything as psychedelic from the 40s....I've got those 40s ties some of which are pretty wild....were these vivid tropical/psychedelic prints part of the post war reaction too....Polynesian/South Pacific influence from the GI return? Those darn 40s films are all in black and white, I got duped!
