Help with dating and identifying stockings

I found a pair of vintage stockings in an old trunk and need help to identify whether they are part of an early baseball uniform or if they were very early stockings for women. I also would like to identify what time frame they were made. Thank you so much for your help.

They are women's stockings, early baseball socks are a coarser knit. They look late Victorian or Edwardian, c. 1895 - 1910, although I would guess they are more likely 1905 - 1910 because of that emerald green colour, which I have seen in garments of that time frame. The colour or pattern was usually only up to the mid shin because that was as far as anyone would ever see in public.

Great photo and of course nice information from Jonathan. It got me researching the history of stockings a bit. According to online sources, the first NYLON stockings appeared in New York stores on May 15, 1940. Over 72,000 pairs were sold in the first day alone "...and the Japanese silk market collapsed almost overnight."
