Help with dating coat please....

Hi there, I bought this coat at an antique market, it is in such great condition I had to buy it. Its very small and petite, but I am hoping I can sell it! Fantastic buttons, what do you think they are made of, they seem like plastic of some kind?. I am wondering if the coat dates to WW2 time?
Any help would be appreciated.

I agree with the WWII dating - that it's fabulous and my first thought was MOP or Abalone for the buttons. LOVE it! Linda, you find the best pieces!

Thanks for the close up Linda - if they feel plasticy, they may be modern plastic buttons, as a replacement for the original buttons. Shell would feel cool and hard.

I would expect this coat to have self-covered buttons and it's common for buttons to be replaced.

Linda, it's not necessarily a draw back: only purists like us care about original :hysterical:

They're very pretty buttons: can you tell from the underside if they're plastic? They have the look of abalone but in the close up look too shiny and smooth. I don't think they will lower the value. In any case, they wouldn't put me off, after all it's easy to replace buttons if you don't like them.

The close-ups of the buttons look like plastic to me - faux abalone. But - I agree with Nicole - they do not put me off. I still love the coat. As Nicole said - plastic will feel warm and shell - abalone or MOP will feel cool to the touch.

The buttons look plastic to me...from the underside shop, I feel this. Still and all, they were a great addition to the coat. I don't care if they're original or a later thought. Very dramatic!
