hi.. me again.... wanting to pick your brains....lol...

i have these 3 items which i wanted to clarify the dates on....

first one a beautiful gold colour dress by marshall & snelgrove.. the top front part is lined, and i had to unpick some of the lining to get to the label....just come back from the dry cleaners....

secnd is a man's waistcoat.... the back is a twill cotton... which has been opened so the owner can fit into it lol.... the buttons look as though tey are handmade....the man in the dry cleaners thought it might be 30's ?

the last one is the blue dress.. with the lace type design... i know there is some age to it... but wasnt too sure if the lace design had been added a lot later..... hope the photos pick it out but there is a beautiful desing on the dress

the 3 items cam from the same owner....

I agree with Jonathan. The waistcoat has that high roll line of the late 1890s. You could also check the back of the buckle for patent date. And I have found tailor's labels on the back of the belts.

Do you think the lace applique at the armhole is part of a repair?

the waistcoat has not got a buckle unfortunately.... one of the previous owners.. not only have they undone the seam on the back.. they have also removed the buckle, and sewn on a piece of elastic.... so they could safety pin it to the other strap part.... so it would fit him properly.....

the blue dress..... is quite busy on the inner top hald so to speak..... so yes the dress has been added to i think.....there are no labels... and does look as though it is home made.....
