I haven't dealt with a lot of older vintage sportswear. Of course I want it to be 30s, but..?

No shoulder pads, they just look squared off from decades on a hanger in some forgotten closet. Unlined. There's just a bit of a curve in at the waist, about 2" smaller than the bust/chest, but based on the tag graphics, it seems safe to say it's for a woman.

The inner fabric is also stamped "Cravenette". Research showed that to be a water repellent treatment for woolens, patented in about 1920. I found ads mentioning cravenette into the 50s though. Nice deco zipper pull.

It's in remarkably good condition except for uneven fading and a few small holes in the ribbed cuffs.

I was going to say 40s too... mostly because of the illustration on the label and the sportswear the illustration is wearing.

I saw 40s immediately I looked at it, but I'm far from an expert on the 30s and 40s. It's a great jacket, and looks in such terrific shape!

I have a coat with the Cravenette label; your jacket is only the second thing I've seen with it. Mine is a raincoat, but it feels like rayon--so there must be this Cravenette weather or waterproofing treatment on it.

I decided to do a little googling on 30s vs 40s ski wear and re-discovered the blog posts on skiwear from VFG's own Fuzzie Lizzie.

I also came across another vintage blog called The Painted Woman who did two posts on 1930s ski fashions that extends a bit into the early 40s.

I still don't know... I would expect 40s to have a more structured shoulder and made out of gabardine rather than the knit. My jacket has 1/2" wide self fabric loops for a belt BTW. Here's how it looks with a red leather tie belt

I'm hoping Lizzie stops by.
