Any ideas of where this two piece outfit may be from? I'm looking for a term like Bravarian, or something, though thats not it. You know what I mean? I think the region would influence possible dating, but it seems 50's to me. Does that seem right? Let me know if you need more pics.
Thanks all!!!

Nicole, Ha ha - you are right, I meant BAvarian! (which is not what I think it is)
So, you guys don't think it is some kind of ethnic costume from somewhere?

You don't say what it's made from but it looks like it could be linen and the Irish Moygoshel was a popular fabric choice in this era which would lend itself to the shamrock design. I have a 40's black linen Moygoshel dress with white embroidery with a similar 'folk' feel to the design. The design on mine is a large row of flowers around the hem & on the bodice following an imaginary bolero edge down the front and around the back.

Pinkcoke, your outfit sounds lovely! I think you hit upon it, I was getting this "folk" feel particularly from the fabric in addition to the design. It does feel like an Irish linen, and thats what had me wondering I think.

Not sure if it applies to embroidery, but cake decorators use a similar 'squiggly' pattern, it's called Cornelli.

Interesting, I will have to look into that! Do you decorate cakes? I always thought that was neat.
