Can anyone help identify the plastic or celluloid-type material used in this failed designer experiment / prototype of an embellished / jeweled sleeveless button-front shirt or vest? It's become brittle and I kept it because it was so interesting .... anybody recognize this work? Any ideas would be appreciated!

Hi Mary Jane, Thanks so much for your reply. Yes, it is bizarre - see if either of these two close-ups I'm posting help : The first is of the embellished material, the other of the über-hip punk label that I couldn't make out - it might be hand-stamped. Do you recognize it? Thanks in advance

Unprocessed vellum is an amazing idea - does that involve any kind of wax? I tried re-posting the original photos in a better size but am having trouble getting the photos uploaded -

Strange! certainly looks like wax from here, and sequins/seed beeds embedded in it? I'm not sure how you could do that with something that didn't melt.
