Help with fabric

Hi all,

Me again today. Looking for help with fabric one more time. I think this is another 60s dress & coat set. I looked through all the horizontally ribbed fabrics in the resource guide and the closest may be poplin but I am really not sure. The back is a bit shiny but the front is more matte and the "ribs" not as well defined. It is lined with what appears as some very stiff acetate type fabric which makes a swooshy noise. What could it be?

Thanks
Victoria

The lining in the last photo appears to be a fine grosgrain weave acetate. The noise is made by the texture of the fabric rubbing against itself.
The dress outer appears to be a knit fabric, which is why you wouldn't have found it under the horizontally ribbed fabric categories. I can't decide if it is a jersey or a type of rib knit, either way it has been used on the bias to form that collar which is why the 'ribs' go in a different direction.

My first thought was Alaskine, which is a silk and wool mix but yours is shiny, suggesting a synthetic component so I wonder if it's a polyester woven to look like Alaksine. Can you do a burn test to see if it's synthetic? There seem to be some loose threads.
