Help with hat dating + suggestions for shipping

The font of the label on this straw hat makes me think maybe 50s?

Any suggestions for shipping it? I'm thinking a box big enough to ship it would cost a prohibitive amount. It fits in the largest Canada Post padded envelope with the sides curled up, but I'd be afraid of it being crushed. Would it be ok if it was stuffed with tissue and had "fragile" stickers on it?

Hoping for feedback from people more experienced with shipping this type of item! It is a small size unfortunately or I would keep it.

It can be difficult to date these beach straws exactly, but 1950s to mid 1960s seems pretty close. I have no idea about Canada post and pricing. However I would never ship a hat in an envelope, except maybe a wool cap or felt beret. And a wide brim with a crown? Never ever. Stamping it fragile probably would do nothing. And turning up the sides is asking for trouble as the straw could split or tear.

Sorry I cannot be more helpful.
