Hi everyone,

I have a few questions about this item:

Is this called a beauty chest/ case or does it have a different name?
What period would you say it is from?
What type of reptile leather does it imitate?
Should I replace the mirror which has quite a bit of deterioration?

The case has two parts. The top has the mirror and these slots for brushes? or similar and the bottom opens separately and has the green lining with pockets with elastic.

Thank you.

I have also seen them called 'overnighters', dressing cases, necessaires, train cases, travelling cases... I think its one of those things that is called different names, depending upon where you are and when it was made.

Thank you Mary Jane, Jonathan, and Joules and Alice. Very helpful as always. I will go with alligator vanity/ train case and overnighter. In terms of dating, I thought 40s or 50s as well but the green lining of the bottom compartment is in such good shape that I wasn't sure.

Also, one more question, I saw many of these described as Art Deco on Etsy. Does this seem correct?
