Help with identifying decade?

Can anyone help me identify which decade this photo was likely to have been taken? Could it have been in the 1870s? Were men's collars available in the style in the 1870s? What about the woman's dress? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's early 1910s - the big buttons running up the skirt off to the side and the highish waist are typical of c. 1912. They aren't the most fashion-conscious couple - they are middle aged and look to be in a somewhat rural or frontier environment, so the clothes are plain and serviceable.
