Hello, all! First I want to say thank you to everyone who contributes to the content on this site. It is incredibly informative and helpful. You are all brilliant!
I've been attempting to date and ID this uniform for a while with no luck. The label is pretty faded but I was able to look up the RN # which, in case you can't read it, is 20732. It is attributed to The Classic Uniform Corp out of Baltimore but I can't find any further information about the company. The only "Classic Uniforms" I can find on the USPTO website appear to be unrelated. I'm also unsure as to what sort of uniform it might be. The zipper starts a bit below the waist and the sleeves have two buttonholes for adjustable cinching. Any ideas? If anyone has any tips I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much for your expert help and Happy New Year!

Hello, and welcome to the forums!

These uniforms were really popular in the late '70s to early '80s, and the label and style suggest that too. Are there any more labels, especially a fabric composition perhaps down a side seam?

Thanks for your fast response! There aren't any other labels but the material is listed on the backside of the label as 100% Dacron Polyester.

Ah, Dacron Polyester - mid '60s at the earliest, so it could be a little early than my dating but I'll still stick with late '70s to early '80s.

Actually, no, I'll go a little earlier and just say '70s.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your help. Do you have any thoughts as to what the uniform would have been used for? Would it have been a beautician's smock or a waitress uniform perhaps?

I don't know about the US, but here in Australia they were used for all kinds of work - from beauticians, hairdressing, cleaning, hospitality. I worked in restaurants in the early '80s and I wore one in the kitchen and sometimes even waitresses wore them, depending on the venue (eg, waitresses in cafeterias but not so much in the restaurants that I worked in, although one waitress in a hotel wore them).

You could get them in lots of different colours and a few different styles, they were good and practical. I'm kind of surprised that you don't see them much any more.

With the Dacron Polyester fabric content and the invisible front zipper, I'm inclined to say 70s as well; I'm thinking mid decade. And I agree that these were used for all types of occupations requiring a uniform. I don't remember colors being as popular for say, waitresses, but I can see it as almost any type of uniform.....
