The era of this purse I am clueless. I have spent hours trying to find one purse with the same gold stamped label and cannot find out. Related to the Belmont horse races? I think it has to. It is all leather with a gold (brass?) rusted zipper. Beautiful purse. Thank you all, in advance, for all of your help and expertise!!!

I think your hand bag dates from the '60s. I'm not familiar with the Belmont races, but it's a common word - is there a reason why you think it's associated other than the same word?

Everything I tried to google, and I am pretty good at it :), was associated with the races. Could not find it in RN database by "crown belmont bags" - I searched by company, not RN, which I do not have, obviously. I am not familiar with the races either... That is why this is difficult. When googling crown belmont, so much comes up but it is always reassuring when you find at least ONE other item with the same label online - which I do 99% of the time.

It would be unusual for a Racing authority to also make hand bags, I haven't heard of it before - but if you know of this sort of thing, perhaps I'm wrong.

Google doesn't know everything: there are many designers and manufactuers of the past that are not represented.

Well, actually no I don't do a thing about the races. I would just think someone out there also has a purse with the same label. You are right, that does not mean it is on line... I am going to go to back to TESS and see what I can dig up...

I wouldn't think the bag is in any way associated with the Belmont Stakes.
It would be expected to encounter many hits about the race, a part of the Triple Crown, when searching by the term, 'Belmont' .

My guess is that the crown logo, and brand name were designed to play upon the perceived prestige of the annual event.

I applaud your persistence in research; many would not be so concerned.
I think it's good to try and find out what you may.

I agree. There is a label, I am determined to find out all about it. I have learned so much that way and realize now that what you might not think is special, may be super special and worth a lot more than you thought. I love learning about vintage designers. I am just a baby in the vintage world but learning a lot, quickly! Oh, and I think you are absolutely correct about the label - put Crown Belmont on there and suddenly everyone is interested! thanks
