Hi Everyone :singing:

This is my fav thing from my collection - I love it!

The label says: a SYBILLE CLAYMAR original MADE IN ENGLAND ( I typed it exactly as it's printed on the label).
I couldn't get a clear photo, however I could post a blurry 1 just to get an idea).

This top is made of floral lace and has a doubled layer ruffle ('jabot?') collar, with slightly high neck, long slightly bluson sleeves with slight, flared ruffle button up cuffed sleeves and has 6 working buttons running down the entire back. Lined in Nylon.

Would this be from the 60's?

Any informatin on 'Sybille Claymar' would also be appreciated.

THANKYOU :hiya:

and well that it.. unfortunately no history on them.. I found a few on e-bay for sale in other countries.. one UK and 2 in spanish (not sure e-bay site didnt look) they seem to date in age from 1950s-1970s and the ones that sould I have seen no price on..... if you look it up I am sure they will come up!

This one is an E-bay listing .es and it is 1960s... do the tags look the same?

I'd guess mid-to-late 60s on this. In fact, I can see this in the wardrobe of a certain Avengers heroine... where's Liz? Perhaps she knows the name...

Thanks for your replies.

I checked out the red blouse from Spanish eBay and YES, the tags looks the same, except mine looks smaller, about half the size.

I bought this a few months ago at a little shop in the middle of nowhere! I got a few 'Made In England' Vintage clothes, my guess is they all belonged to the same lady. Cheap too!

About a month later the shop was attacked by arsonist, twice in 2 weeks, the second time it was burnt down. I cringe when I think of what may of been destroyed. :scratchchin:

yeah the fire sorry.. but your top is horrible too!! no I am just kidding.. I am very eccentric and i have "modern" tops like that and I love them... THis one would be in my personal closet if I owned it ;-)

I like it alot I love the Neck Ruffles (sorry dont know the term) makes me feel like I could run away with Lestat! :-)

Sorry, for the misunderstanding!

Hey Jluthye

No worries - to each their own!

I was looking through the forums and saw some of the cool vintage items you own.

How long have you been collecting for? Do you sell?

Come chat :bat:

hahaha uh one month now... so very new at this and learning... but trying super hard.. making it more than a full time commitment.. ive got a goal of 1 year to learn what toehrs have through their lifetime...
and yeah I piddle around on e-bay,... not making money.. but if my "designer" stuff sells this week then I will finally get ahead lol but for 3 weeks selling I cant complaing takes blood sweat and tears until I can get a break and a reilable "bulk" dealer... I live in pensacoal so not too many estate sale close that I can find.. someone is holding out lol!!

and i sell so I can afford to collect!! buy all items I like keep the ones that fit well without altering and sell the rest!

:hiya: I'm the same. I only buy things that I like. Where I live, there's no amazing things, mostly lots of fun, retro stuff. So most of my stuff is from the 60's-mod, 70's disco era!

I have bought a few from the U.S. Mostly cute stuff, nothing special or highly collectable.

My Nana gave me, like 5 suitcases full of her 60's-70's, some 80's stuff! It was a fun day going through it all!!!
She had 40's-50's stuff, but while at a market 1 day, a vintage clothing seller overheard her talking about all her 'old dresses' and came to the house and cleaned her out. Gave her $1 a piece. OUCH!!! (That was before she new that I collected vintage). Nana thought she was getting a good deal because she thought nobody would want that 'old fashioned stuff'. (That's Nana's for ya!!!).

I always wondered were the good gear is? So, it's Estate Sales! I'm not sure that we have them in Australia?

I'm thinking of offloading a lot of my mod-disco stuff. I have w-a-y to much. Probably a 'dime-a-dozen' but some sellers in Australia get CRAZY prices for this type of stuff! And, I NEED space?

Are there lots of thrift shops or markets were you live? There a plenty here! Practically on every street corner!

:cheer: (I love playin wth these icons!!!).

SOme.. there are three here that are speciafically vintage.. but I am ina a smaller area.. but that helps keep prices low.. and I got to all the local goodwills and stuff (low price thrift stores run by charitites) once each week.

You could seel yourstuff in lots.. wont ge4t as much per item.. but saves you time and fees....and another thig to do is.. it feels really wiered at first... kinda bad,. but in the end its ok.. call local old folks homes or nursing homes and offer to take the clothes of the deceased that has abadoned property (either no family of family does not want it) tell them to call you or offer to buy them if they already do that then ask to be aded to the list... I have not scored any that way yet but I have been put on the list..

thats how to get ahold of the well taken care of collectors stuff..old ladies keep it in a bag with them always, and keep it with them until they die.....

but dont feel bad.. you know how much clothing gets thrown out daily all over the place.. think of it as preservation
