  1. Just wondering how old this is exactly, I only know he died in 1954 and that his Haute Couture fashion house continued for 3 years after his death...
  2. also there's is no label giving details of fabric so does anyone have an idea, what he used?

THe Couturier Association was founded in 1950 by Piguet and Lanvin, and included Paquin, Desses, Carven, and Fath. Balmain joined a bit later. It was an experiment by the couturiers to create ready-to-wear clothes for off-the-rack sales. THe venture lasted until 1953 and ended because the French didn't buy their fashions that way, and ready to wear lines diluted the value of the couturiers as designers. So the dress has to date between 1950 and 1953. I suspect it is rayon.

PS: Could we get a clear shot of the label for the label resource here? I've never actually seen one of those labels before, but they weren't intended for foreign markets, so I'm not surprised.

I like the seasonal pattern- it appears to be mistletoe, so you might look for mention of these designs sold towards Christmas in magazines/newspaper records etc around the years Jonathan suggested to try and pin the date down further.

Sorry but the dress sold very quickly!!! I didn't get a chance to rephotograph the label :/
