Help with signed minaudiere

Can anyone help with information about this minaudiere signed by Brett Lewis? The only information I uncovered about Lewis was that he seemed to be a jeweler and the mention I found was from 1988. Do you know anything about him? Or this bag? Thanks!

Ah, would that it would. It is actually a Christmas present for someone for next year. 'Tis the season...to start shopping for next Christmas.

I just wanted to know more about it for the giftee and for me.

Oh, my middle son's girlfriend will probably be his wife by next year. She is lovely and elegant, tall and thin, intelligent, immaculately groomed and always has perfect red fingernails. I, on the other hand, look like a female version of Fred Rogers -- Crocs, comfy old sweaters (most with holes in the elbow, etc.) Clearly this needs to go to someone like girlfriend, right? It doesn't quite go with holey sweaters.

It could be someone's name who etched it in there kind of like a 'crimestopper' type thing? It looks more like that type of signature than the kind that an artist would write in there...

Brett could be a woman's name...

I wondered about that, too, and you may be correct. However, when I found that there was a jewelry maker by that name I reconsidered. Also, when I lived through the you-must-engrave-all-your-silver era (one day I will get my Social Security number off my flatware...sigh), nothing was in cursive and everyone printed his or her name, for clarity.

I will go back and look at it again with a magnifying glass.
