Happy Monday everyone,

Well, I'm back again, armed with more questions. I'm really having a tough time telling between the 50s & 60s - even after I POURED through my old Sears mags from that period!!! Anyhoo, do these 2 piece numbers do well? What is their proper name?

Oh my gosh honey! If you originally bought all of these for yourself, you must have one killer wardrobe! They are all great!!

The 1st one I would say is 60s. I say this because the length looks a bit too short of 50s (unless someone shorted the dress.) But even so, the trim looks more early 60s to me. What you have is a sheath dress and box jacket embellished with... what is that trim made out of? Is it rhinestones or just some sort of ornate trim?? I believe you can use the term "Jackie Style" in the title. First names are still ok, aren't they Chris??

The next two look 50s. The floral print is very 50s. The jacket is a bolero with 3/4 length sleeves. They were very popular in the 50s. Is that a bow or a ruffle at the neck?

The last one looks like silk brocade. Are those roses in the brocade? Roses are always a good draw so make sure you mention those. I would call it a Rose Silk Brocade Marilyn Style Wiggle Dress and Matching Bolero. Is that a braided trim I see??

More winners girl!

Hi Maureen!!

Again, a HUGE thanks for all your help :) It's sad really, I used to have ALOT more of this stuff in my personal collection... but given the fact that I never "paint the town red" anymore, it's all just gathering dust. Slowly but surely, I've sold most of my collection off, but I have kept my all time favorites! It's so hard though, you want to hold on to EVERYTHING! But, I make myself deals, I replace the clothing with cool pieces of furniture ;)
Anyhoo, here is an uplace of the trim on the first one (heavily jewelled) and I LOVE the color: seafoam green!

Also, here's another picture of the second one, with the bow

And finally, here's the third one, the trim is braided really, more like dingle balls? OMG, why does that word sound so gross? Eek!

THe green one looks mid 60s to me. They are making little sheath dresses like that with boxy jackets until almost 1970 and its really difficult to tell the differences between them all, other than hemlength. That is definately an at the knee or just slightly above knee length (depending on the height of the original wearer) so I would say its c. 1965-67. THe wide beaded trim is also typical of the mid 60s, as well as that celadon green colour.

The pink lace is a titch earlier, probaly in the 1962-64 range because the hemlength looks just below the knee and those all lace dress and jacket sets were popular from the very late 50s until the late 60s.

The print dress and jacket is probably about the same time period, but it looks a little older because its a little more conservative in its styling. It might be as early as 1958, but it could be as late as c. 1963ish.
