Help with Tortoise Purse

Hello,

I have attached some pics of a purse I picked up yesterday. It looked interesting and was very inexpensive ($3.00 US) so I grabbed it - it is probably not vintage or anything else but thought might be worth at least looking into. The purse is made of plastic and is very heavy - would be wonderful if it was actually lucite or bakelite but again, not holding out hope. There is a gold plate on the front with a design on it that could be a logo but of course, I am clueless. The same thing is repeated on inside. I have attached pic of purse, outside design, and inside design. There are no other markings on the purse, no zippers, etc.

So any thoughts on the design - is it a logo? If yes, any thoughts on the company the logo belongs to. I did some prelim searching but of course found nothing since I dont know what to call the thing! :)

As always, thanks so much. Your input and help is always appreciated.

Praying I am not going to embarassed that I missed the obvious or that you will tell me this a K-Mart logo but am steeling myself!!

I would say it is in between. Not ptob what you find on super high end bag but it does have some weight and doesn't feel cheap (if that makes sense) in addition I believe there is a leather piece on tghe chain and the interior really smells like leather...although I could be wrong yet again. ;)

Someone went thru some trouble to make this purse or to at least make it look like it wasn't cheap -I am just so curious. No made in china tags and can't see where any tags were torn out or otherwise removed...doesn't mean they weren't though.

As always, I am amazed. I am also relieved that I don't have to chew on my foot for posting a bag from Kmart. Am excited. Need to figure out what is made of now. You all rock!

Am getting suspicious that this could be a knock off. If so, it goes into trash (after being rendered useless) to ensure one more fake out of the world. Not doing anything yet and will keep researching. Just have my suspicions.

If all else, contact the company through their website for authentication. I have seen ballet flats with this sort of pattern - maybe its meant to match? I've also seen this general shape of clutch. I think its more of a plastic resin than bakelite, etc. As far as the price you got it for, not everyone knows who Tory Burch is esp because the line has only been around only for the past 5 or 6 years or so.

I did find one very similar on ebay that was nwt and described as resin bar which makes sense. Will try to authenticate per your suggestion. Thank you all again. Would have rathered that it was vintage but I guess I should be happy it is "something "

Yes, it definitely could be something. Once I found a really great Oroton of Australia purse that wasn't vintage but was in style at the time and it helped supplement some of the vintage ones that weren't highly desirable but I just had to rescue, you know? It is interesting to me also looking back what I gravitated towards when it was new and whether it is considered the epitome of that time now or was it something that only I liked. Anyway, search through google images for "Tory Burch tortoise ballet flats". To me, they look like they are similarly inspired.

BTw, I just found that bag on StyleHive. It was posted 13 months ago and the retail on it was $365.00. So maybe it was from '09 or '08
Of course, the magic of studio lighting is used here and it might have been tilted, but I think its the same purse or from the same line
