Help with Woolrich Down Parka Dating

Hi, I’ve seen a few of these Woolrich Down Parkas on eBay and I’m wondering if anyone can tell me when they were made and if they were made in the USA? The label/tags don’t actually say made in USA but every other similar tag and label combo is so it’s kind of confusing. The only info I could find about Woolrich down product production is from places like this https://www.company-histories.com/Woolrich-Inc-Company-History.html and it doesn’t mention importing any them, only manufacturing them in the USA. Any help is appreciated. Here’s a link to one:

Woolrich continues to manufacture to this day, their website is here and their contact page is here. I was hoping they would say something about being made in America on their history page, but there is no specific mention of it. You may want to contact them directly.

Their products are hard to date as they are classic, basic styles, for the most part, and are made and marketed over many years, decades even.

Interesting reading their history - I did not know that they were the inventors, or at least the namers, of 'buffalo check' ! and I've often wondered why it was called that.

The Buffalo Check, whose name was inspired by a herd of buffalo owned by the Woolrich designer who developed its distinctive red and black pattern

Thanks for the reply. Woolrich was actually sold a few years back and the new customer service over there doesn’t have access to the old information that I would need. I contacted them about another question awhile back.

I live in Pennsylvania, and the Woolrich name is very much a part of Pa. history. We used to drive by one of its plants, which is closed now but which, I think, still has an outlet store. Not sure about that, though. From what I've been able to find out, they no longer manufacture anything in the U.S., having closed their mills. This is from a very reputable Pennsylvania publication from 2019: https://www.pennlive.com/news/2019/...g-but-company-is-thriving-executive-says.html

This piece seems to say in its later paragraphs that they don't make anything anymore, but further reading on my part simply indicates that no manufacturing is done in the U.S. anymore.

These ones says Made in USA, FWIW

So I guess, when they were made in the USA, the label will state that. And any that don't, will date from after they stopped manufacturing there. Figuring out exactly when that was though, will take a bit of research. And there may have been a tranisition period, when some were made in the USA and some weren't.

From what I’ve seen all similar down products and items with the same label/tag combo are made in the USA. I’ve seen tons of Woolrich clothing and they all have where they were manufactured on the tag except these specific down parkas. It’s very strange. I don’t think they started manufacturing abroad until the late 80s/90s and there was still a lot of US manufacturing at this time. If I had to guess, I’d say it was made in the states but I’m just not sure.

Similar flannel lined parkas are miusa as well.
