I have an old women's hat once owned by my great-grandmother. It is marked John W. Thomas Minneapolis. I was wondering if I could get any help dating and/or pricing the piece. thank you!

Hi,

The label is from the department store, so the actual milliner is unknown. I would date it to early 1950's. Possibly as early as 1948, but more likely the early 1950's.

Value is really what the buyer will pay for this, I cannot give a value here. The style is very plain, quite common, and without a designer label, the value is on the lower end of the scale.

Agree with early '50s, and agree that pricing would not be high due to the plainness of the design.

Agreed with all, but I would suggest adding a small rhinestone or jeweled brooch to the front of the hat, on that little wrapped accent. Sometimes just a bit of added "flair" will, if not increase the value very much, make it sell more quickly, as it will set it apart from others of similar style and color.
