Hi there,

I need help dating this dressmaking pattern if poss.

I've noticed the old Butterick patterns don't have a copyright year on them as some other makes did - how annoying of them! lol

Am I right thinking it's late 70's?

The blonde at the front reminds me of Jerry Hall:roll:

Any help gratefully received.

Bye 4 now,

Roxy xx

Laura is the pattern officienado, I just went on memory of what girl's were wearing the year I graduated high school! Isn't it funny how most people can remember exactly what the fashions were the year they graduated high school?

I will never foget the year the entire 1972 Homecoming Court wore velvet hot pants ensembles with blouses and vests in November.

Yes, it does look late 1970's, but check to see if it has shoulder pads.
Those should put it at a later date.
It's a classic cut that lasted for quite a while into the 80's.
Obviously it's 'hot' right now!
good luck,
Jennifer

OMG, Hollis, that must have been a sight! About all I remember from '72 (also my graduation year) is hip-huggers with body suits, long tunics that doubled as very short mini dresses, and prom dresses with big sleeves that looked like bridesmaids' gowns.....
