Hi! New to the Forum Need Help with a unique Valentino skirt

Hi I am Tara, an avid vintage and fashion lover. Excited I found a place with like-minded people.

I'm hoping anyone could help me figure out this Valentino skirt mystery. I have done quite a bit of internet research on the label era but it's perplexing why it is upside down. It looks as if someone folded over the waist and tacked the label on, but the skirt itself is constructed like a sample rather than ready to wear.

See pics for full background-.

Wondering if someone went to great lengths to sew this label upside down to make a fake or if it's a sample. No care labels either. Seems like a crepe material.

Confused ...thanks for any help --Tara

Hi, we don’t authenticate on this forum as per forum rules. I will say it looks home made, or at least altered unprofessionally

Welcome to the forums.

I can’t quite make out what’s going on with the waist, in the photos.

It’s possible the original label came loose, or was removed to facilitate alterations, and then someone sewed it back on upside down without realising.

or it’s possible someone sewed a Valentino label into another skirt to try and pass it off as a more expensive skirt. And they sewed it in upside down by mistake. It’s called label switching and unfortunately it does happen.

as said we can’t help with deciding if something is real or fake here, sorry.
