This isn't mine so I dont have very detailed pictures but this dress is being advertised as a 1940s dress. I've never seen a dress from the 40s that looks like this, I have a hard time imagining a woman in the 1940s going out in public with this dress on. Is it supposed to be belted? What do you all think?

It looks 70s to me - maybe even maternity, but its hard to tell with the tiny pics and no detail shots.
