Any helpful comments appreciated!

Is it the moth damage? Should I get it fixed and relist? Or perhaps the pics? or maybe I am wrong and its not amazing after all....
I don't sell much menswear so I don't know but i think this is a cut above the usual DJ.
I also have some 70s/60s boutique dresses doing v badly, perhaps I started them too low or perhaps they just aren't that wearable though I love them.... Kind of wish I kept them for my collection now, sigh....

All I can add at this late hour is that I don't see any similarities to a zoot suit. Maybe you're attracting people who are then disappointed and NOT attracting those who are turned off by the mention of zoot.
LOL did that make sense?
I do think you've started things very low. It tends to devalue your items. The days of multiple bids and items ending up where they SHOULD be, price wise, are long over... unfortunately. Now it seems like...if YOU don't value them, the bidders don't either.

It does look like a very nice double breasted tux suit. Is it dated on that label?

Try retaking the photos using a hanger, this will help the suit display better. Also the background colour does not work well with black. I agree that these days on Ebay you have to put a high starting bid to get any result so if I were you I would completely revise it.

Thanks, I am not well versed on mens clothes. I know it isn't a zoot suit but that was the closest thing I could think of with double breasted, baggy trousered tight ankle... I have taken it out of the listing and will see. I agree the pics aren't great, if only I had a gentleman form!
If nothing happens in a day or two I will take different pics.
I have ALWAYS started my items at £1, but that was a while ago. I have just come back after a break and the rules seem to have changed. I think many more people realise that you have to wait until the end of an auction to bid. Also people are suspicious that the item is not genuine. In fact i read on one website that a sure was to tell if an hermes bag was a fake was to see it starting at a low price with no reserve.
Such a shame, I love the fun of starting an item low and I always enjoy watching auctions with low starts. I believe you are right i will have to change my policy.
This week for the first time I have started at a higher price for a few things and the bidding seems actually brisker. (except for the suit). anyway, thanks so much for the advice and if anyone else has a thought I am open to suggestions.

I'm thinking it's simply a matter of it being rather small..?

Well, that & maybe because of the moth damage to the pants. I'd really play up the jacket & throw the pants in for "free."

Oh & you may want to add Tux to your title or in the description somewhere...

you may also want to get a hanging half form. They are very inexpensive (i forget..but less than $20) and come in a man's silhouette too and they show will fill out a shirt or a jacket enough to give people a better idea of cut. I noticed when i got one ending prices jumped dramatically because i could ask more...my presentation was more professional and customers thought it was higher value because i placed a higher value on it.

One more thing...and not all the pictures loaded for me...so disregard if you did it and i just didn't see it.

When mentioning a hole, show it next to a coin or another familiar object if you can to show size. Also, if on the pants, tell where it is. A hole on a cuff is much different than a hole "front and center" no matter how small.

You definitely have a variety of pictures which is good.

The description also says

"is 40 inches at the chest 37 inches at the chest and 29 ""

Is it 40 or 37? someone might have been confused.

I want you to understand that I am not trying "to pick this apart" but I have sold a lot of menswear and want you to get the maximum dollar that you can.

For pants...measure waist, (and note if there is a seam allowance), inseam and outseam (and if the pants are cuffed). I measure the cuff as well so men know if they can be lengthened. Don't worry about hips, etc. Say "high waisted' instead of low crotch (but then again it could be normal for this style). Or better yet, don't "judge" or state whether you think they are narrow or wide unless you are familiar with the cut because guys who look for suits online will know the measurements they need for the particular cut.

If you are retaking pictures why not see if you can find a bow tie to show with it so guys get the hint that it would look great for a dinner and is not just a typical double breasted suit.

Oh, and about openers, i agree with Kristine. Another thing to do is if you like low starts, add a healthy BIN. the other thing is low openers only work when you have a few people wanting the same thing unles it is a wel known and highly sought after collectible.

Thank you all, I have actually decided to just sell the jacket and keep the trousers to wear myself as they are so great and fit me! Leisa is right, they are very small- I bet that is stopping people from bidding. The other thing is moth damage how ever minor sounds awful even if it isn't bad in person.
I agree with presentation. Funny, I think of it with my ladies clothes, but I didn't really think it this time. I think I'll relist myY SL jacket too at a higher price.

Oh well, this has been a valuable learning experience anyway :)
