Hostess Aprons?

Does anyone collect vintage fancy hostess aprons? I do and would love to find others that love these.
Sequins, felt etc.
Bought a lovely one recently from Poppy's Vintage on Ruby Lane with a (what else) Peacock.

Thank you. I have many Christmas ones and like to hang them like on a line for decoration at that time of year. Many people do not realize what they are. Women wore utilitarian ones while working and then changed to these fancy ones for the company. I love the history. I am sure many may of just had one or 2 special ones. Such fun. I have been and will always be a collector first and foremost.

Hi foofoogal- I am a sucker for hostess aprons and have quite a few in my collection, they also sell very quickly whenever I do list them, so there are others like us out there who have a passion for these aprons :)

I have a collection of these, also. I just cannot resist them for some reason -- why are they so appealing? I must admit I was not really thinking of selling them, but if I go and look through them, there may be a few I could part with. After all, do I really need 20 or more hostess aprons? I have worn one or two of them once or twice at my holiday parties, I think.

I like wearing mine on any old night, cooking a simple dinner or cleaning the house. My husband really gets a kick out of it, lol! I really use my full aprons for baking and cooking more complicated recipes. They come in super handy as I am a bit of a mess maker :).

BTW, foofoogal, I absolutely LOVE your idea of hanging the holiday party aprons on a line for decoration!!

Here's a holiday apron of ours that was just listed on eBay:

I have a cocktail/hostess apron sewing pattern from the 1950s for sale in case anyone wants to make one herself... I can't post the link here, and the shop is still on vacation mode anyway, but you can send me a message through the forum should you be interested :).

Laurie, I think they remind me of my mother who did wear aprons every day.
I have a similar one like you showed.
Karin, I love them so much possibly as in Homemaking class (what it used to be called in school) I made an apron as my first sewing project.
Thanks Gayle and Amber for your comments.

Yes, lovely! My mother still has her grape trivet made of bottle caps & purple crochet! She has it hanging as artwork and does not utilize it on her tabletop.

Here's a particularly yummy apron that I think is rather special (just posted in our Etsy Vintage Bridal Salon). Wouldn't it make a nice Kitchen Shower Gift:

Wow Laurie- that apron just takes the cake- I am in love!

Very pretty Gayle. I would put that in category of Hostess apron. Fancy enough. I love anything with black/white stripes. Always reminds me of an old fashioned Ice Cream Parlour.

Oh Linda - I am lusting after your aprons. I started something called the "Apple Pie Festival" in our town as a fund raiser for the Historical Society. I decorated one large room with vintage aprons hung on a clothesline all along the walls and it was perfect.
