I am melting... It's too hot to work, and I can't even consider going and standing in front of spotlights to take pictures. Cooler than yesterday at 28 degrees C (about 82F)

I've resorted to sewing more vintage bags to sell at the craft stall I'm helping at on Saturday ( http://www.partyinthepark.org.uk/ ) - I'm just praying the weather doesn't break before then and drench us. It's looking that way..

What's it like where you are?

I'm in the *cool* part of North Carolina, so the temp here yesterday was ONLY 92* F. No rain in sight until the latter part of the weekend.

With the humidity it felt like 42 C here on Monday, that's about 110 F, although the actual temperature was 33 C, which is about 90 F. THe problem is you are in ENgland and don't expect those sort of temperatures. Here in North America, especialy in the middle part, we expect HOT summers and COLD winters. Spring and Fall are the only pleasant times to be outside -- no wonder we all have weight problems! THere is no such thing as year round gardening or walking!

It is hot, hot, hot here, too. I think it reached about 97 here yesterday. I am staying still inside, occasionally doing some work early in the mornings. We think we will get a break Friday with some cooling weather in the 80s.

Harriet, I want to see those purses!

We got a small break today here in central TX. I think it only reached 100. It has been 102-3 for several days. It is oppressive to go outdoors. No rain in sight.

I don't know what it is like being 80 or 90 where your from, but I am from the top portion of Texas and we reached 107 on the dial today!!!!!

I took the kids swimming and realized that the pool felt more like a warming bath then a cool swim!!! AGH!!!!!!

We got relief from the blistering heat yesterday. :clapping: Today was very nice....temps in the 80's with low humidity.

No AC here so the highs in the 90's were killers for us. :barf: We have to check on my Mom regularly. One late afternoon when the heat and humidity reached a sweltering peak, I found her dressed in a long wool skirt with knee socks and she had closed all her windows. :( She now calls me her "Mom".

Gail

A huge storm just hit about half an hour ago here and the cool air is VERY WELCOME! I'm glad I was up so I could open all the windows and doors. The heat has been unbearable.

You see, I am such a wimp with my 82F! It's funny though, I can handle emperatures in the 90s etc. when holidaying in the Med. - infact I pay to make sure I have a holiday with sun. I think it's the fact, as Jonathan said, we aren't accustomed to it happening over here and the roads start melting and schools start closing etc. There is a national shortage of water butts, of all things, as anxious gardeners fear for their begonias..

It's like when it snows properly here and they cancel all the trains. Us Brits don't seem to be very good with anything other than the middle ground!

Stay cool everyone!

Well all my moaning did for the 'party in the park' craft market. The bands played on but in torrential rain and storm warnings (attractive young air force officers telling us to get out our storm lashings.. as if we had any with us!) we decided to give up after a few hours and packed away.

See what happens when you complain! I did take a few pictures of my bags etc. Linda so will show you them later on when I download them.

We like to do things different here - LOL - it was quite nice and then it rained all night and now 44 celcius with the humidity factored in. There's a haze over the whole city.
