How do I explain these sleeves?

They are attached at the shoulder, but not at the sides and bottom of the armhole.

My best guess for the age of the dress is 46 -47ish, right, or no?

Very interesting Lizzie - don't think I've ever seen anything quite like them. Off the top of my head I'd say they're some kind of flutter sleeves - I mean they would flutter a little, wouldn't they? Built-in air conditioning! Hopefully someone more sleeve savvy will know the name for them, if there is one.

Rayon crepe? It's very pretty. I'd guess it is 40's, but can't be more specific.

Hmmm. That's a dropped shoulder yoke with a batwing sleeves. Usually batwings are attached all around, so that open underarm is an interesting variation.

I agree with later 40s, but you can sure see where the 80s found it's inspiration, can't you?
