How do you date a pair of shoes that have been trendy through the ages?

I know these are not really really old but I am thinking 1960s? The gold stamp nordstroms signature is not modern by any means... what say you?
Would you call them Genie shoes? Boho Shoes? I am at a bit of a loss!

Thanks!
Michelle

I would most definitely call these "Genie slippers" - and give them the whole arabian nights/harem angle.

I have a pair of black and gold slippers less ornate then these of course, but they definitely have that harem/magic genie vibe and they were 60s. I can't say for sure if they are earlier or later than mine because i saw a magazine spread from somewhere around 68-71 that had a desert/arabian nights air about it, but know the influence was probably earlier too

For some reason, these genie-type shoes always say late 50s/early 60s to me. I can't help but visualize the woman wearing these entertaining at home, wearing black toredor slacks and a beautiful tunic.

I see these and think of I Dream of Jeanie. Or has too much time passed for most people to get that reference??? :o

Arabian Nights... perfect Chris!
Sara, the base of the shoe is leather, there are stamped size numbers and such rather then written and the Nordstroms signature is an older style.
Hee YOU made me giggle with that comment but I am on alergy meds as well so perhaps we are just all a bit loopy.
Dianna, I love it! May I use it? It says everything that needs to be said for a title!! Hope they make others grin ear to ear!
Lizzie, I see these shoes as that as well, even something a bit glossier such as mid 1960s gold lame' peddle pushers and a flowing jeweled tunic with perhaps a woman with short jet black hair and huge false eyelashes and of course a HUGE personality to pull it off!
Oh Laura, I HOPE too much time has not passed because that makes me feel old!! :) Jeannie would look absolutely adorable in them AND she would be very comfy too, they are made of THE softest leather!

Thanks everyone for your help!

Michelle

No, how can one can forget Jeannie? My husband still thinks Barbara Eden is a beautiful lady and still looks the same as she did back then. Maybe there was some beauty secrets inside that genie bottle :)
