How does one find great novelty print items?

Or rather, what keywords should I be using to search on eBay and froogle?

I'm afraid I'm becoming a border-print, novelty print junkie, but it is really dicy finding them. The skirts are relatively easy, because I've been using "circle", and "Full" in the 50s skirt category. But I'm really wanting some more tops with novelty border prints (love that early 60s look - easy on the waistline!) Just how DO I narrow down the search?

Thanks,
Lizzie

Another potential for Novelty Printz Anonymous here.

Lizzie, I'm wondering if the tops are just an awful lot more scarce? Unless I'm rubbish at searching for those too.

I've seen the scattered small print ones, and I think one or two occasions where the matching top and skirt are listed, but the border print tops on their own...

I've started to search via subject matter+description. I've got lucky on a couple of 40s rayon novelty print palazzo pants purely by chance.

I think the VCA 'novelty print' thread has helped concentrate posters' and lurkers' minds as to the most relevant keywords, but outside of that circle, it's still not obvious to people how to list stuff...

not all sellers mention "novelty print" and they do come up in different ways from obscure places. they may not know the lingo or they may have just offered it for sale because it was cute. if they have a large internet shop, they may just describe what's on it if they have a gazillion novelty prints

for example,

search skirt+dragonflies
or vintage dress+umbrellas.
or whatever animal, theme, or thing you like and you might not
always find a novelty print, but you just might.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Yes, the tops are a bit harder to find. I think that most of the prints were developed specifically for full skirts, but some more adventurous seamstresses turned them into tunics. A few years ago I had a great Venice Carnival scene that had been made into a smock, and a few weeks ago I missed a cute scenic border print that was made into an early 60s top.

Venice seems to be popular, but not as common as I'd like.

Recently there was a matching Venice border top and skirt, which went high & to Rubysohony. :(

Again.
