How old am I? Worth Listing Seperate?

Yet another Humane Society estate find.

Worth listing seperately or should I put in with the jewelry to sweeten the deal of the jewelry lot? I was leaning towards lotting but now i don't know.

Also, how old do you think? Halloween-y colors w/rhinestones.

I agree I would list separately, and my first thought on date was 30's, perhaps earlier? I am sure someone with more expertise will come along with something more definitive.

I'd go solo, too. I haven't found the best of luck with jewelry lots, myself. It looks 20s Deco to me.

I think thebelt 1930's 20's also. But would be good to list alone in a shop rather than auction. At auction they dont do great..but If in shop it can sit until someone needing a buckle for a dress will buy it. The belt is in great condition! Maybe save it and add to a dress....

That is the only belt buckle as far as I found. There is a watch also. It doesn't match exactly but to me it is stunning.

the rhinestones look like they are more from the early 1930s than the 20s

What exactly about it...in looking at other pieces in this estate...should make my antenna go up that something is from the early 30s than 20s (or as opposed to a rhinestone from post WWII?

As far as a jewel lot, I have a Trifari brooch with the original hangtags, a Dubarry simulated pearl necklace with original tags, and some other interesting goodies like that so it will definitely be a more premium rather than a crafter type jewel lot.

But it sounds like it might be really worth to stick this one out and clear out bulkier things...and hold out for this one for the right person rather than auctioning it to auction it.

I really really am appreciative and grateful for all the tidbits of knowledge!

That's gorgeous Chris - Imagine it on a velvet dress of similar colour or something.. woudl sell it seperately myself! :)

Sounds like you have lots to wade through at the minute!

Hi,

The reason I stated the stones look more 1930s, as I have had a number of 1920s buckles and the stones tended to either be more pronged set or on a more fine metal base than in that sort of metal base.

The dresses from the very early 1930s still had that very art deco line about them and this would look wonderful on a luscious velvet 1930s bias cut gown which quite often had these sorts of buckles attached to the velvet belts.

The Trifari could of course be quite valuable, nice that is has its hang tags.

So in that case you might be better off to list separately, I thought you might have had a few other buckles.

luscious velvet 1930s bias cut gown

oooh..how i would LOVE to have one of those!

Thanks for the info on the settings. I think I "get it". Prongs show up later too...but if you definitely have a piece that could be older, prongs/no prongs can possibly give one a clue.

To me they look like they are "embedded" in there for lack of a better description :)
