How to be in fashion if you're not model size

How to be in fashion if you\'re not model size

I just wanted to share this article taken from British 'Fashion' magazine dated August 1968. As the title suggests, this piece is about finding clothes appropriate for your size although I hardly think this lady need worry too much. She looks perfectly healthy and in proportion to me!!!

This is Audrey Clarke, a fashion stylist of the day. In the article she 'frankly admits to being in her forties' - shock, horror! I'd never have guessed! I must say that models back in the 60's did actually look much older than the very young teenagers you see today. Makes a refreshing change to show someone much older although to be honest, women in their forties now look much younger. :icon_dante:

Here Audrey is suggesting this chic little coat and dress for the person who's going on holiday at the end of September, yet who wants to find a perfect travel outfit before all the holiday clothes disappear. It's made in a linen-weave fabric combined with man-made fibres to prevent creasing, and would take you happily to lunch on your arrival. :excited:

Audrey says: The culotte dress, above, is the perfect answer for those who long to wear the beautiful and exotic evening clothes so much in fashion just now, but who can't afford them - or find them too extreme. :drinking2:

The dress above is in washable Tricel, travels like a dream and is suitable for dancing. :cheer:

Somehow I can't see Audrey in a pair of baggy jeans or track suit. Ladies then did have a certain glamour and were incredibly smart. Wonder whatever happened to Audrey?

Great article ! My mum is 64 and I can tell you one thing, she'd wear that lovely little coat-and-dress outfit on the first pic right away - maybe she'd make it a tad longer, but that's all... and she would have worn this in the original length in '68 :spin:. It's just her kind of style.
Audrey certainly looks great!

Thank you ladies. :) It just reminds me how times have changed. It's rare to see someone dressing in such an elegant way these days - not for travelling anyway!

I reckon Audrey would have been the kind of lady that would never have ventured out without her hair perfectly coiffed and full makeup on!
