That depends: what sort of fabric is it?
If it's silk, I would dry clean - and it looks like silk. I'm guessing you'd like to wash it because of the stains? I would gently hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent and see if the colour runs or the stains improve.

Jean Louis was an important designer. It looks like your dress is silk lined in either silk or rayon. I would not take a chance on washing this dress. Silk and rayon can both shrink with improper treatment. Even if the outer fabric washes fine, that lining will likely shrink and ruin the dress. I would definitely dry clean this beauty with a dry cleaner you trust.
agree w/Jody. btw,you probably already know it, but if not, be sure you alert your dry cleaner to the issues; the spots and the underarm liners, so you both are aware of the extent of the "before" condition.

That is a beauty of a dress...do be careful who you give this to for cleaning!
