How to clean this?

Hi guys --

Part of my 99-piece haul from Saturday (I'm still exhausted!). Any advice on how to clean this wonderfully wacky dress?

It's that sort of "pleather" with the squishy foam-like backing that tends to disintegrate. It's in solid shape, and smells fine, but you know me -- everything has to be really clean. And the fabric trim has some soiling I really must try to get out. So... how to?

The label says not to Dry Clean, so should I assume they'd warn not to wash it at all if that were a no-no as well? Not putting it in the machine, as I fear more for the machine than the dress. But I could certainly put it in the tub.

Can anybody figure out the name on the label? Do you recognize it?

Thanks.

Cute dress Liza - I would wipe down with a soapy cloth, treat like one of those plastic table cloths or vinyl couches.

Reads as "A 'n R Jnr" for me - but that apostrophe n is confusing, I feel like it should be an "i" but I can't see it.

Liza, ArmorAll could be worth a shot, you can buy it here in protective wipes in a tub so am guessing you can in the USA too, and it has worked a treat on some vintage vinyl bags I have, another VFG member suggested this to me, it worked brilliantly and is clear, I just had to rub the bags down after with a soft cloth to remove the residue.

99 piece haul....you have your work cut out for you, Liza!

On the fabric trim, I would also recommend Folex, just put it either on a clean towel and then rub it on or apply it with a q-tip.

I have to remember to buy some armor all and give that a go myself!

Let us know what happens, if you put that whole dress into the tub....I am very curious what will happen to that sort of backing.

You know, I think we have some ArmorAll wipes out in the carport room. Will go check right now.

I will give that (or similar) a go, and then use some sort of mild hand-washing detergent on the trim. I think I returned my giant bottle of Folex when it let me down on the last oddball cleaning job : ).

Maybe I'll submerge a corner and see if it disintegrates. If not, might as well just wash it in the tub, as it's always good to be able to actually wash your clothes, even if they're made out of picnic-table cover, LOL.

Reads as "A 'n R Jnr" for me - but that apostrophe n is confusing, I feel like it should be an "i" but I can't see it.

I know! It would be "A n R Jr." without that strange apostrophe/accent. So is it "Ain" (like the vowel'd sister of Ayn Rand, say), or "Ari" or "Ani" or "Avi" ? So weird. Didn't they want people to be able to decipher their name?

Thanks, all. I thought 60s and super-mod - I mean, it's obvious, right? But you know me. Plagued by dating self-doubt.

Meanwhile... I cleaned the dust off nicely with what I happened to find under the sink -- namely, some leftover "Pampers Clean and Play" ultra-gentle spray cleanser and sanitizer for use in nurseries! What a hoot. It's specifically made to leave no residue, be safe for baby, and requires no rinsing (although I did). The trim I just hand washed with mild soap under the faucet. Perfectly clean.

Yesterday, picking up some of my favorite hand-wash liquid at the Dollar store, I found the "LA's Totally Awesome" spray cleaner that someone recommended way back when. Bonus!
