That is a great bag! It is from the 1930's. The biggest clue for me is the style of the font on the box. Very Art Deco!
Whiting and Davis is still in business. There is a lot of information online about the company's history. Whiting and Davis produced a brochure in the 1930's called "Hand in Hand with Fashion.
It can be difficult to date later W&D mesh bags and it would have been harder to date this one if you didn't have the box. One way is to search for older ads and to read some of the articles about them online or purchase a book on purses.
