How to describe this hat?

Hello All,

I wondered if you could advise me how best to describe and title this hat in a listing? It's kind of like a beret and kind of like a newsboy hat. Made of brown felt. Opinion as to age?

Thanks so much!

I think you have it backwards on your head. The bow section looks like it should be positioned against the back of the head. I did a quick google search, and came up with this example, sold by one of our VFG trade members

You've got it on the mannequin backwards. :) The bows should be on the top and back of the head and the round donut portion will tilt over the forehead and brow. These are usually called "tilt" or "doll" hats and date to the late 30s and early 40s. Try putting it on your own head and you will see how it feels right this way.

I  that hat! Yes, turn it around and tilt it. The brim is what is often referred to as a bumper brim. It dates to the early 1940s. That label started in 1940 so it can't be earlier. I agree with calling it a tilt hat, that word really attracts the right lookers.
