How to describe this skirt? Age?

I found this very fun skirt at the thrift store yesterday. Would it be described as aztec?
I think it had a care label that's been cut out, so I'm thinking 80's?

Aztec seems reasonable, if perhaps a little bit of a stretch.

How cute it would be with a slim-fitting bright turtleneck on top. Maybe red! Or any color to coordinate with the bold pattern. And flats. Maybe bright ballet flats. Sorry, can't help styling it...
