How to determine value of vintage items.

I plan to list some hippie-era clothing on eBay. Two of the items are vintage Granny Takes A Trip men's velvet trousers which are in pristine shape-quite nearly new. Most of what I encounter on ebay is more mundane. How can I tell what sort of value to use as a reserve on these? I'm only willing to sell if I can get a good amount for them; However, I feel that someone out there may be able to actually wear them and they are far too great to just spend their lives on a hanger in my closet! Thanks.

We have some collectors of British boutique wear who hang out here, so hopefully they can give you a better answer than I. Lucy is right about starting with a price you would be comfortable with as the final price.

BUT, Granny Takes a Trip items are very desirable, and I suspect you'll get the bids. Can you show us pictures? Are the labels the same as what is found on our Label Resource?

Well, Granny gear is pretty darned rare and usually makes a very healthy amount with or without a reserve. The rarity is what makes it so hard to value though....would love to see them. Granny is one of the missing links in my collection!
