This is a 4" x 54" length of circa 1920s hand beaded _________??? (I'm at a loss as to what to call it - perhaps, trim). I'm not sure what to call it or what category(ies) to put it under on eBay.

Advice anyone?

Please and THANKS?

Deborah

I would call it an applique and hazard a guess that it would have been used to decorate a skirt.

I have seen trims/laces sold in the vintage clothing category, but I'm not sure if that's really the best place for it. Perhaps someone else has experience selling similar trims...

It's gorgeous!

I would enter it in 2 categories if possible, vintage clothing and probably more importantly, antiques-textiles . Possibly mention the word "panel" too at least in the description. It's quite fabulous.

Thanks sooooo much ladies!

I'm so glad you mentioned lace, Laura. I thought of it, but then dismissed it for some reason.

Yes - Panel !!!

Can you see any signs of it been stitched onto something .Have you thought it could be a pprentice /sample piece.
Using Google beaded samples do exist but more square to be framed and not long and thin, so maybe a apprentice did it before been let loose on the real thing
Might be worth dong some research first before letting someone get a real bargain on Ebay

Thanks for your input Paul. I have been doing some research and as Laura mentioned it was probably used to decorate a skirt or a dress in the 20s. It could have been an apprentice, but if it was, it was someone at the very end of their apprenticeship. The craftwomanship is superb. Moucho hours, I suspect.
