How to wash 1920s dress

I came across this 20's silk dress. I washed it once just with cold water and then air dry. But there are a few stains that didn't came off.
Any other cleaning method?

Thanks!

Jenny old stains are usually there to stay. What do they look like? if you know a bit more about what might have caused them, this can help in deciding the best method for removal.
I would only go ahead with further cleaning methods if you think the dress is strong enough to withstand them.

It looks to be silk chiffon or georgette? In which case, I agree, the stains are not likely to come out. And a stain is better than a hole!

I agree with Hollis and vote silk crinkle georgette and also agree that the stains are likely there to stay - silk is hard to get stains out of and '20s fabrics are delicate so treatments risk damaging the fabric.

What I will say though is that as it's survived a wash and dry in cold water, you're probably safe to wash in lukewarm water and mild detergent and that will clean it a lot better than water alone. Then dry flat on a towel in the shade. Good luck!

One dot of yellow stain on the lace and darker color stain on some part of dress.

I am tempted to try Vintage Textile Soak detergent on the yellow stain. Good idea or bad idea?
