Tapestry? And the pattern - it seems vaguely Aztec or Mayan to me - what do you think?

Thank you :)

Wow it looks similar the print on THIS COAT I have listed now!

Is the fabric smooth on the back?

my immediate thought was aztec, but i am no expert and am not sure if that is technically correct. Is it matt or shiny? in the first pic it looks a bit shiny - its very nice and autumnal (or 'fall-ish' i suppose in your neck of the woods!!)

Susan - the back of the fabric is like a negative image (like a film negative) of the front - exactly the same except the dark colors are light & the lights dark. Hmmm, something about that description seems familiar to me, but damned if I know what or why :BAGUSE:

Harriet - the fabric does have a bit of a sheen to it; there are no labels but it feels like a wool/silk blend - very tightly woven. The 2nd image above is a scan & shows the effects of that weird otherworldly scanner light :) It is confusing - I won't include it in the auction.

Oh - and though the skirt is indeed autumnnal, it's not remotely Fall-ish in our (Susan's and my) neck of the woods - still hot (80's today? Sure felt like it) and humid! Looking forward to "real" Fall weather in a big big way.
