How you find estate sales/auctions??

I have to find some, but I've never done it before - can you tell me your ways :) share your secrets with me please...

My area does not have regular fixed-price estate sales, but everything is auction. For auctions, just go to auctionzip.com and create your search parameters, and you'll get e-mails daily about upcoming auctions within your geographic limits and that feature your keywords.

Around here on Thursdays the local paper lists all the auctions in the area. You could check with your paper and see if there's one day for this type of listings - also estate sales. Unless it's a second home and someone from out-of-state, an "estate sale" around here basically consists of old tools, tupperware and tires. I also always check the newspaper's calendar for rummage sales.

You can find auctions near you at THIS SITE, but so can everyone else!

Oh an actual paper! I was searching all over online and I didn't even think to pick up a real paper. And I will check out the sites, thanks all!! :) I feel silly now...

Check your newspapers online site too.
Ours lists the classifieds so you can see what sales are going on.
Normally under merchandise, the garage sales.
Be careful of moving sales/garage sales that are listed as "estate sales"...man those annoy me.

I used to rely on the Thursday classifieds in my local paper, which listed estate sales and yard sales in the same section. After I started to get a feel for which companies I liked best, I mostly followed them (either by checking their websites or getting on their email notification lists).

A lot of companies like to post notice of sales in Craigslist (don't know if they're in Canada?), but as Julie says, you've got to read between the lines to distinguish the "real" estate sales from the overstated garage sales!

We have craigslist here, I use kijiji mostly and hadn't thought to check craigslist - and I'll grab a paper, I just realized I have a lot of inverntory right now (after taking over 300 pics in the last 2 days, with more to come - yup I have lots!) but I will for sure be looking into these suggestions soon - thanks again everyone!
