I am Craving velveteen...

Hi Lovelies,

I have an early Thanksgiving dinner to go to on Wednesday, November 25.

I want to dress up just a bit. It's at friends' home. People come in all array of dress, but I don't dress up much these days. All my clothes are too small. I gained about 20 pounds over the summer & it ain't going anywhere. *sniff*

So - naturally I thought of y'all. I'm in a US size 10 to 12 & I'm tall. My inseam is 34-35".

I'm looking for velveteen that I can wash (hopefully) as it's getting down to the wire & I won't actually be able to pay til Wednesday, the 18th.

I have my eye on Maggie's black velveteen jacket on eBay, but I'm thinking a 2-piece dress, maybe?

I'll gladly consider anything ya wanna show me.

Many Thanks!

Leisa, I have an Italian-made red cotton velveteen sleeveless gown that's been cleaned, but it has a smudge on the bodice that didn't come out (but could be covered by a well-placed vintage brooch). Though it's long, It's not a "formal."

Hi! I know you're looking for an outfit, but I've jusr picked up from the cleaners, the most marvelous Marguerite Rubel hooded clutch coat, in the very lovely "Wild Cherry" color. It would fit over many sorts of styles. I plan to list it in the next few days. Please let me know if you may have interest, and I can get right on it.

This is the color and label, different style, as sold by friend of VFG:

Thanks so much, Ladies. I was told tonight that the mode of dress is to be casual, so I'll be wearing my jeans & hopefully a snazzy vintage top.

BijouVintage - I'm 5' 10" tall & need a minimum 34" inseam... So, if they're long, I'd love to see the pants wheneer you get to it - no hurry.

Joules - that Coat is Amazing!

I'm still craving velveteen...

Thanks again - Leisa

Hey Beth, do those pants have a cuff (looks like) that Leisa could let down. This may work. 5'10"....wow, I could only dream what it must be like to actually be able to reach things. You go girl!

:BAGUSE: no cuff.. I'm just munchkin sized and had to roll them up twice to not trip over them

Hello, I've just joined this site but am looking for a fur identification chart that I believe you may have posted on 1/20/2011 or thereabouts. It was under the topic "raccoon or fox?". I have inherited several fur coats along with at least 20 loose fur collars from my great-aunt. She was quite a seamstress and even worked on altering her own furs. I believe she must have collected most of the extra collars at thrift stores or they may have come off of coats she no longer possessed. I'm trying to figure out exactly what I have so I can clean some of them properly, store them in the correct way and learn how to sew/work with them so I can reuse them on my clothes. You attached an image of about 20 different fur pelts all arranged in a big circle. They appear to be complete with heads, legs and tails still attached and undyed. Each was labeled in the photo. For some reason I only printed out a small version of this chart at the time but I want to be able to reprint it larger so I can have it blown up at the copy center. I'm pretty sure this chart originated from you is you are the correct "Miss_Martys". Thanks for your help, Libby Shea.
