I am now a mystery shopper

I had applied for this work several months ago when I saw their ad in Craigslist. They contacted me recently and I started today.

The study is confidential, of course (that's why they call it "mystery shopping.") Generally though, I go into branches of a large bank and ask for information about their services. It is a lot more specific than that, but it is pretty easy.

The pay is not great, but I think it is fair for the amount of work involved.

Today I visited two banks in two different cities. Then I visited a Goodwill and bought 5 angora and mohair sweaters. I think the mystery shopping is a good fit with thrifting. I go to new cities and can check out the thrifts and antique malls at the same time.

Have any of you ever done this kind of work?

Yup! I am signed up with 3 companies, but only did one shop so far. Now that I'm moving, I'll set it up again if it's feasible when I get to Cali.

I got paid $5.00, but I also ate free at Cheesecake Factory - so that was great! I like restaurant shops a lot because I have experience in F&B & I know how things "should" be.

There is a company who shops that water park up by Williamsburg. I can look for the info if you want.
I like Mystery Guest & Spies In Disguise. Some of the others are just scams.

Sounds like you have a good plan, ellen. New thrift stores...yummy!
