I just got a few gowns, help dating?

I just received all of these gowns from a friend and I'd like help dating them. Most of them I'm assuming are 1970s to modern to be honest. Sorry for such horrible pictures, I have a crappy phone :P

I think the outerlayer is rayon, but I'm not to sure.

Hi Rose, I agree - I think they're all late '70s apart from the last one which looks like a very early '80s wedding gown, maybe '81-ish.

You'll probably find the fabrics are polyester rather than rayon but check down the side seams for content labels: they should all have them somewhere, unless they've been cut off.

Yes you were right about the fabrics, I haven't had anything that's real rayon yet, sadly. A few of the labels are missing, I'll have to look them over again tomorrow I think.

Yes, I know I just didn't think to clarify that. Once the woman I've been getting them from gets fully moved she said she has a cedar chest full of 1940s and 1950s dresses. I'm so excited for those!
 
Lovely: you should find some rayons amongst those.

People were very excited about polyester in the '60s and '70s, so many garments from those times are made of the fabrics. Actually, polyester has dominated ever since although we've had a recent resurgence in popularity for rayon, which personally I prefer a lot more.

There's been one I've had my eye on on Etsy, I wonder if its still available. And I prefer it to, from the few times I've seen it :P
