I know it is old, but just what is it?

I think this must be a childs top, but when is it from? I believe it is hand crocheted, there are draw strings around the neck and arms and I believe the extra long one is meant to be woven throught the waist.

I was thinking this was pre 1930's? Any help?

The chest is about 30" and it is 16" long from the shoulder.

It looks like a crocheted sweater top. I have seen patterns for these from the late 1910s and early 1920s. THey were often worn over white lingerie dresses or plain white cotton sleeved undershirts with a skirt.

That's exactly the same kind of thing!

However, yours isn't filet crochet. Filet is made almost on grid with certain sections filled in if that makes sense. Yours is regular crochet.
