i know this isn\'t 30\'s/40\'s, but is it 80\'s or 90\'s?

bought this very cute blouse last year from a fairly established vintage seller as vintage, which it blatantly isn't. i (like to) think it was an honest mistake on her part as it could very well be original, but has a very modern looking interlining and the remnants of a distinctly modern label in the neckline, which has been cut out.

my question really is, when recently would this type of thing been fashionable and most likely date from. mid to late 80's, or even 90's? scarily enough - don't think ebay.com and .ca have had this happen - i did notice that ebay.co.uk have introduced a vintage:women's:1990's section. not sure if i want to list in that!

how and in which category would you go about selling this? vintage: other?

(sorry the last one is sideways, it's been a long day...)

thanks!

This kind of blouse was the thing a couple of years ago with the retro 40's look. Prada made quite a statement and other companies tagged on.

It could be recent, or with the polka-dotting, I wonder if it could be mid 80s too. Does it feel 'recent' recent, or has it got that slightly 'different' 80s feel the fabric and stuff.

Or if you knew that, you'd know...

(trying to resist the temptation to ask you to dish on who was mistaken...)

I don't know Harriet, but the cut would look good on me i think LOL.

Anyways, i think the polka dots were of course big in the 80s but the very early 90s...when the all black look was also in...black and white polka dots or black dots on another color were also in. 92-94ish maybe.
i will have to really get my thinking cap on and remember.

whenever it was made... it sure is cute! It's a very convincing 40's feel.. even if it is modern.

i know - when i first unwrapped it i was so pleased with the condition, lol!
anyway my initial tentative thought was 80's but seeing as at the time i was too busy wearing odd fluorescent terry towelling socks :BAGUSE: and the like to pay attention to the more stylish fashions of the day i wasn't 100% sure. the covered buttons have metal backs which look a bit older... but then i think you could have a point too louise, it could easily be even more recent.
i think i will list in 80's, confess my ignorance to exact date in the listing- make a 1940's mention in the title - and hope that the right buyer finds it. i'll be listing a late 30's dress and 40's swing dress at the same time so you never know :)

as for the seller it was over a year ago and i honestly can't remember who it was! no one i know (really - or i'd remember the name!) but i do come across their auctions every so often. to be fair i decided at the time it really was a mistake, as kristine says it's pretty convincing.

i've worn it once with some 1940's black wool sailor trousers and it does look the part! :)

no kristine, small to medium? - haven't measured it but i'm about a US 8 and it fits me - probably about a 34/36" bust

i'll be finishing my listings later today so will let you know :)
